Each one of Southern’s Flameshield® Tanks is built to nationally recognized UL and Steel Tank Institute standards and is subject to strict quality control inspections. Every Flameshield® primary (inner) and secondary (outer containment) tank is tested for leaks in our manufacturing facility and may be tightness tested on site using standard testing methods. Here are some of the codes and standards that the Southern Flameshield® tank complies with:

  • Southwest Research Institute SwRI 97-04 requirements – 2-hour 2000° Fire Test validates performance of non-insulated tanks.
  • National Fire Protection Association (N.F.P.A.) 30A section 2-4.5(a)
  • UL 142 primary and secondary tanks
  • STI Flameshield® Standard for Aboveground Tanks

A variety of UL listed saddle and skid supports is available for the cylindrical Flameshield® tank — designs are available for all seismic zones. The exterior coating may be customized to meet your requirements. Openings, manways, interior linings, compartmentalization, and other custom requirements can also be incorporated to fit your specific needs.

The Southern Tank STI Flameshield® tank is available in horizontal, vertical and rectangular designs and can be used in place of diking or remote impounding at many installation sites. The Flameshield® is compatible with a wide range of fuels and chemicals and is available in sizes ranging from 150 to 30,000 gallons. See standard capacities and dimensions for horizontal and vertical tanks.
