Oil Water Separators
Facilities that discharge pollutants into the sewers and/or waters of the United States are required to have a storm water management program by The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, or NPDES. If you are required to have an NPDES permit to discharge pollutants from your facility or premises, one key ingredient to your storm water management program could be a Southern Tank AquaSweep™ Gravity Oil Water Separator. Not only will Southern Tank’s AquaSweep™ Oil Water Separator help you meet US EPA Phase II NPDES permit limits, but it can also be used to meet certain secondary containment requirements under 40 CFR part 112. It provides environmental protection which satisfies the requirements under 112.8(b)(3) to retain oil at your facility in the event of an uncontrolled discharge.
The AquaSweep™ Oil Water Separator will treat your facility’s storm water and wastewater pollution discharge by separating the non-emulsified oils and related petroleum products with a specific gravity of less than 1.0. Sludge and other matter will settle to the bottom of the separator. The remaining storm water flows through and exits the AquaSweep™ beneath the oil globules and returns to the environment or can be treated further if required. With liquid level sensors and control panels capable of determining oil levels (these items sold separately), the operator is alerted that it is time to remove and properly dispose of the collected oil and other remaining matter.
Southern Tank manufactures the AquaSweep™ Gravity Oil Water Separator in single-wall and double-wall designs. It is available in both aboveground and underground construction with the strength of steel giving you peace of mind that your AquaSweep™ Oil Water Separator will provide a long service life. The AquaSweep™ Oil Water Separator is available in a wide-range of capacities, flow rates and effluent discharge efficiency levels as low as 5 ppm. Southern Tank can manufacture a single-wall AquaSweep™ up to 20,000 gallons with flow rates up to 4,000 gpm. It is also available in a double-wall design up to 12,000 gallons with flow rates up to 2,400 gpm. Customized accessories and interior linings are also available.
